Celtic Darbar is a vibrant, family-friendly musical theatre production that brings together community performers, dancers from Ballet Cymru, local artists, and acclaimed musicians from London, led by Cardiff-based artist Amruta Garud (Ayan Cymru). Trained as an Indian classical vocalist, Amruta has developed a distinctive artistic practice that bridges cultures and genres, blending Indian classical and folk traditions with Welsh and Western musical forms a fusion audiences experience throughout the production.
Set within a reimagined royal court, the story explores how music, movement, and creativity continue to flourish even as the world around them begins to shift.
The show presents a rich blend of Indian and Welsh musical traditions, featuring vocals and instruments such as crwth and harp, alongside sitar, drums, bass, electric guitar, and tabla, all woven seamlessly with expressive dance and storytelling.
Celtic Darbar is a joyful celebration of diversity, creativity, and connection across cultures and generations.
