The strategic aim of Menter Iaith Merthyr is to support the Welsh Governments strategy, ‘Cymraeg 2050: A million Welsh speakers,’ by increasing the use of the language in the community. This is done by the completion of targets which are set in partnership with the Welsh Government, alongside a network of Mentrau Iaith from across Wales.
Alongside the Welsh Language Strategy sits the Well-being of Future Generations Act, which focuses on creating a Wales that we want to live in, both now and in the future. Central to our ethos is the aim to see Merthyr Tydfil thriving as a hub of our culture, our heritage, and our language.
