On Saturday, April the 26th, 2025, the bilingual singer/songwriter Al Lewis will, embark on a unique tour in partnership with Transport for Wales; visiting towns and cities all along Wales’ stunning rail network. Al will not only be visiting new parts of the country but also undertaking a more environmental and social approach to travel, showing how musicians can do their part to help us reduce their carbon footprint.
An evening of Welsh language comedy with Noel James and special guests
Noel has been performing his visual comedy for over a quarter of a century and has played the UK’s most famous comedy clubs. He came to widespread prominence in 2018 when he reached the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent. His incredibly clever, surreal and mischievous material appeals to all ages and all audiences.

Composition workshop with David John Roche
Always at the forefront of helping and supporting new music and musicians in Wales, Uproar Ensemble is offering a day-long composition workshop aimed at young Welsh composers and musicians aged 14-18 (years 10-13). Participants will learn about writing music, different forms of musical notation, cutting edge new music, and the possibilities of different instruments – all in a friendly, supportive, and fun environment.

Burum are a truly unique Welsh band that fuse both the Welsh folk tradition and jazz. Burum’s repertoire is drawn from Welsh traditional music, adapted and re-imagined for a modern jazz sextet. The band’s music fuses a deep respect for the original folk melodies themselves with the flexibility and dynamics of jazz improvisation - beautiful, melancholic melodies are performed alongside fiery solos and deep grooves.
Emma Lloyd performs a programme of contemporary works that explore the violin’s expressive possibilities through extended techniques, electronics, and open-ended interpretation. Featuring music from her album mue, the concert brings together pieces shaped by long-standing collaborations and a shared curiosity for sound.
To commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day, please join us for a film screening of The Silent Village featuring guest speakers at Theatr Soar, Merthyr Tydfil.
In partnership with the Wiener Holocaust Library, the Josef Herman Foundation and the Welsh Jewish Cultural Centre we will present The Silent Village, which remembers the Lidice massacre, whereby a mining community’s entire male population was executed by the Nazis in 1942. The film sees the villagers of Cwmgiedd, Southwest Wales, ingeniously retell and re-enact the tragic story as if happening in Cwmgiedd.
Tafod Arian is a multi-layered production that combines film and sound archive to create new music. Lleuwen Steffan pays tribute to the voices of the past, infusing their timeless melodies and lyrics with contemporary arrangements and heartfelt interpretations. This production gives new life to archive recordings, ensuring that the traditional hymns of Wales, once loved by the nation, claim their place on Welsh stages today.
This project is a commission by the National Eisteddfod of Wales, with support from the British Council and Gwendoline and Margaret Davies Charity.
