The Cynefin project is the creative vision of west Wales native Owen Shiers. Fascinated by music and history, it is a bid to give a modern voice to Ceredigion’s rich yet neglected cultural heritage. Starting out from his home village of Capel Dewi in the Clettwr Valley and traveling through the local musical landscape, Owen unearths seasoned songs and stories, some never before recorded, and gives them new life in the present.
The wheel of fortune turns. It makes the rich richer and the poor poorer. God knows it doesn’t pay storytellers enough…
In a lost city, stories interweave: riotous tales of love, lust, and intrigue. A girl is raised as a boy, embarking on a quest of self-discovery. A king falls in love with a werewolf. A wild wizard prowls the woods, waiting to be captured. The wheel of fortune will bring them all together.
It’s 1955, the age of the new NHS, but the workhouse still stands and some of its residents have been prisoners of poverty for more than half a century.
Gwen, an anxious polar bear, wakes up on a broken icecap hundreds of miles away from her family. On her perilous journey through the Arctic Ocean, she will have to find her courage, as well as her way home.Centred on themes of climate change, home and confidence, Gwen yr Arth Wen fuses puppetry, music and visual storytelling to form a rich and exciting show about finding confidence in yourself.

Y Consortiwm Cymraeg presents the comedy Addysgu Rita ( Educating Rita) by Willy Russell, translated by Gwawr Loader
The Olivier Award Winning play, in Welsh for the very first time
When Rita, a married girl who works as a hairdresser, enrolls in a university course in order to broaden her horizons, she has no idea what the end of the journey will be.
Her cynical tutor, Frank, the frustrated poet, brilliant academic and committed drinker, is not very enthusiastic about taking Rita under his wing. But they both come to realize how much they have to learn from each other.
This funny and warm comedy will delight audiences throughout Wales.
“At the heart of the play is a human being who hungers for something better, and that is a basic and primitive experience.”
Emma Winter, a bilingual singer-songwriter from Merthyr Tydfil and proud member of ‘Team Bronwen Lewis’ on the first series of Y Llais, brings her signature blend of heartfelt storytelling and song to the stage.
