Bill Taylor-Beales and Phil Okwedy are long standing singer-song writer and story- teller friends with a passion for weaving - song and words together to explore the human condition.

Blues Echoes is an evening of stories & songs where myth, legend, social history and autobiographical story are interlaced with music and song from the Blues/Spirituals tradition. 

The performance explores themes of enslaved peoples and working class poverty and protest. It includes stories about the invincible African American John Henry and his duel with a drilling machine and legendary musician Paul Robeson and his support of the Miners of South Wales.  

Listen to how Blues music captured societies struggles and inequalities, and sparked resilience and hope. Bill and Phil share their own personal stories growing up with music inspired by the Blues, and they may even get you singing along to a few familiar toe taping blues lyrics

Age Suitability - suitable for ages 12+  

The production talks about themes of slavery and enslaved people that include descriptions of violence. The show also discusses themes around mental health and inferring to suicide.
