Gig Calan - gyda chefnogaeth / with support from The Marcellas.
A storming juggernaut of cool power-folk with a jaw-dropping repertoire. You can’t help but marvel at their astounding musicianship.” Folk Wales
One of Britain’s most innovative and thrilling bands will be playing a one off show at The Soar Centre in Merthyr Tudfil. You won’t be able to see them play another show until they hit the road in November 2024. This international band have played everywhere from Borneo, Australia, the USA and Europe. They are looking forward to coming home for one night only.
Expect intricate, captivating melodies and mesmerising harmonies underpinned with foot-stamping, crowd-pleasing rhythms. Calan’s bewildering array of instruments includes guitars, fiddles, bagpipes, harps, accordions, vocals… and, likely as not, world-class step and clog dancing.
“Calan reach out beyond folk,” says Folk Radio UK, “breathing fire into old traditions with infectious, high voltage performances.”
