UPROAR’s ensemble of 16 virtuoso soloists continues to push the boundaries of classical music, performing new music from Wales alongside work by international composers, whose music is rarely performed here.
The Chamber Concerto by Ligeti (whose music features in the films 2001: A Space Odyssey and The Shining) gets its Welsh Premiere, as does Hrím, Anna Thorvaldsdottir’s potent evocation of elemental power.
For the new Welsh commissions, Litang Shao explores the sounds, energies and emotions evoked by the unpredictable nature of the sea, incorporating the musical elements and flavour of traditional Chinese music. Ashley John Long captures the echoes and whispers of the rolling hillsides of the Welsh landscape. And in contrast, David John Roche takes inspiration from the heavy metal and rock scene in the Welsh Valleys as he was growing up.
Touch tour:
This year we are offering Touch Tours for those with sight loss at all our performances of Ligeti’s Chamber Concerto & New Music From Wales. This is a chance for those with sight loss to hear some of the sounds before the show and talk to some of our ensemble members about the performance. This usually takes place 90 minutes before the performance and lasts up to 30 minutes. There is also a pre-show talk with the composers at each venue 1 hr before each performance.
If you would like to find out more about the touch tour and access at each venue, you can contact the venues below or contact us on info@uproar.org.uk | 07885977044
