Y Parlwr and Theatr Soar present a special evening of new folk to celebrate St David’s Day
VRï are three young men from deepest, darkest chapel-going Wales who have mined the cultural upheaval of past 200 hundred years. Jordan Price Williams (cello, voice), Aneirin Jones (violin, voice) and Patrick Rimes (viola, violin, voice) combine the joy and hedonism of a pub session with the beauty and subtlety of a Viennese string quartet, re- interpreting the rich and varied repertoire of traditional Welsh music through the prism of a chamber string trio.
Sisters, Elin and Carys from Montgomeryshire have been singing together for as long as they can remember. Since reaching the final round of the folk Battle of the Bands at last year’s Eisteddfod they have played gigs all across Wales, performing originals alongside new arrangements of tradition folk songs. With their many instruments in hand they bring a mixture of heartfelt ballads and rousing tunes woven through with their voices in harmony.
